This method\u00a0is most suitable for relatively straight gradient pipelines.<\/p>\n<p>The process involves the use of a pneumatic hammer that is attached to a\u00a0pipe casing end. The leading end of the pipe casing is left open and fabricated\u00a0with a casing shoe of a slightly bigger diameter than the casing to ensure an\u00a0over-cut. The pneumatic hammer is powered by an air compressor that\u00a0converts the air flow to a succession of percussive blows that drives the\u00a0casing into the ground. As the pipe casing is driven into the ground, its\u00a0internal annulus is filled with excavated material.
